Aljamain Sterling has confirmed via his YouTube Channel that he will fight former UFC double division champion Henry Cejudo. Although the talks about the fight have been going on for a while, a tear in the muscle prevented Sterling from announcing the fight earlier. The much-awaited fight is targeting UFC 288 where Sterling will look to make his third title defense. It’s going to be a tough fight for Sterling as he faces the experienced Cejudo.
In his last fight, Sterling defended his UFC bantamweight title against TJ Dillashaw at UFC 280. He put up an impressive performance and defeated Dillashaw via a second-round TKO. This win marked his eighth victory in a row since a knockout loss to Marlon Moraes at UFC Fight Night 123. Sterling has been on a roll and will look to continue his winning streak against Cejudo. Recently, he took advice from Joe Rogan for his surgery and got wishes from Conor McGregor.
Initially, the fight between Sterling and Cejudo was set for UFC 285 in March. However, Sterling had to rule out that date as he continued to recover from his injuries. The fight was then rescheduled for UFC 287 in April before today’s latest update of the UFC 288 booking. Fans can’t wait to witness the epic fight between Sterling and Cejudo as they battle it out in the octagon at UFC 288.
