Henry Cejudo Reveals Khabib Nurmagomedov is the Reason Dustin Poirier Wouldn’t Fight Colby Covington in the UFC

The former ATT gym mates Dustin Poirier and Colby Covington dislike each other. Though ‘The Chaos’ wants to fight ‘The Diamond’ inside the octagon, the latter does not. Now, Henry Cejudo has come out with a reason for this.

Speaking to Helen Yee, ‘The Triple C’ has given his stance on Poirier saying, he will never fight Covington inside the octagon.

He said, “With all due respect to Poirier, and I’ll go for him too on that one. It’s like if, if you know, there’s not a lot of difference between Khabib and Colby Covington.”

“Especially, like in the top control, the relentless, the relentlessness that they bring. So if he could maintain on his feet, he can beat him. But man, I hate to say, but Colby Covington is, uh, Covington is a favorite one with both of them.”

Indeed, ‘The Diamond’ has struggled against ‘The Eagle‘ on the ground. Also, with ‘The Chaos’ being a natural welterweight, it will give more problems to the lightweight in the grappling department.

Dustin Poirier refused to use Colby Covington as a training partner for UFC 242

The Louisiana native had a perfect training partner in ‘The Chaos‘ to prepare for his lightweight championship bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242. However, ‘The Diamond’ didn’t train with the welterweight. Covington hinted Poirier has ego issues, and that’s the reason ‘The Diamond’ didn’t use him ahead of his bout with a wrestler like the Nurmagomedov.

With ‘The Diamond‘ often suggesting a move to 170 lbs, a contest between these two will be intriguing.
