Is Jon Jones thinking of taking on Alex Pereira? Interim champion Tom Aspinall has been chasing a fight against the supposed ‘Greatest of All Time’, but the undisputed champion seems to have his eyes on ‘Poatan’. Well, UFC insider, commentator, and Hall of Famer Michael Bisping believes Jones is just toying with the British fighter because there is a chance Aspinall might beat him.
Jon Jones may have started a conversation about a potential fight between him and Alex Pereira, but Michael Bisping believes that could be a move to snub Tom Aspinall. Given his record and the fact that he is the interim champion, ‘The Count’ laid out the truth for ‘Bones’ regarding the outcome of a fight against Aspinall.

Michael Bisping doesn’t even have an inch of doubt that Tom Aspinall has to be the next opponent for Jon Jones. Understandably, the Stipe Miočić fight is already confirmed and it will happen before the English fighter gets to go at ‘Bones’. However, Bisping doesn’t think Jones would fight the light heavyweight champion to snub Aspinall.
“If we’re calling it straight down the line, Tom Aspinall is the guy that has to be next,” stated Michael Bisping on his YouTube channel. Having earned a bunch of wins via knockouts, the Hall of Famer is certain about Tom Aspinall comfortably edging past Jon Jones. Bisping event went on to claim that the British star would give Jones better competition than most heavyweights.
“I do believe that Tom Aspinall is the only person in the heavyweight division that will give him [Jones] a fight. I’ve said it before. He’ll make short work of Jones,” the 45-year-old added.
Besides, ‘The Count’ also refuses to accept that Jon Jones is aiming to fight Alex Pereira because, by his calculations and analysis, ‘Poatan’ cannot take down the formidable ‘Bones’.

Jones is “playing games” with Aspinall, claims Michael Bisping
In Michael Bisping’s recent YouTube video, the Hall of Famer rejected Jon Jones’s idea of fighting Alex Pereira. He strongly suggested that it’s just a facade from the heavyweight champion’s end. He quoted what Tom Aspinall commented during his recent appearance on a TNT Sports interview and opined that Jones is just putting up an act against the interim champion.
“Tom Aspinall was talking about it recently and I think he’s nailed it, right? He said Jon is just playing games. I think that’s what he’s doing. He’s trying to mess with Tom Aspinall,” said Michael Bisping. Despite having a resume that includes being a two-weight champion, Jon Jones doesn’t seem to be gunning for a matchup against the Brazilian ace, who’s had an unusually fast rise to stardom in Dana White‘s promotion.

On the other hand, even if Alex Pereira makes weight and jumps to the heaviest division of the UFC, ‘The Count’ doesn’t think he will pose much of a threat to ‘Bones’, who did not even give Ciryl Gane a space to breathe or even think of his next move on his heavyweight debut. “Going to heavyweight wouldn’t be too much of an ask [for Pereira] but he would get his a** beat. Simple as that. Looking at what Jon Jones did to Ciryl Gane, it would be a very similar affair in terms of stylistic matchups,“ Bisping added.
