Rogan was having a conversation with former Navy SEAL Andy Stumpf on his million-dollar podcast, the JRE, about the variety of black belts in jiu-jitsu. That was the moment when Rogan mentioned Rickson Gracie. He said, “Rickson when he would do seminars, he’d teach these black belts finer points and techniques – things that they didn’t even know. Like, these guys are black belts.”
Rogan added that Rickson Gracie’s techniques and lessons made other black belt fighters feel doubtful about the way they were training earlier. It helped them get better ideas about the technical aspects of certain moves. While the fighters prepared for their chances, they’d often witness Rickson Gracie roughing up their fellow black belts. So you’re like, ‘I’m fifth. Maybe I have a chance. Maybe he’ll be tired.’ He never gets tired,” said Joe Rogan.
