The UFC commentator Joe Rogan is a successful podcaster who has always remained successful in bringing the best out of his guests. In a recent episode of JRE, wrestling legend Ric Flair was the guest of Rogan. Flair is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. His fighting career spanned over fifty years. Furthermore, the 74-year-old began his amateur wrestling career in his early teens. A major part of his career was spent in Jim Crockett Promotions and World Championship Wrestling. During the podcast ‘Jet Flyin’, talked about yet another wrestling legend, Harley Race.
Flair had some great memories of Race from the old days. Furthermore, he also believed that if Race were in the UFC in the present day, he would have been the king of the UFC. Race was not just a wrestler; he was also a promoter and trainer who has contributed largely to the popularity of wrestling all around the world. He created a huge buzz in the combat sports world when he threatened wrestling legend Hulk Hogan with a gun. Flair talked about the greatness of Race, and some things about him that surprised Rogan.
The stunning declaration about Harley Race

Ric Flair was the guest of Rogan in the 1974 episode of JRE. During their conversations about wrestling, the 74-year-old talked about the greatness of the legend, Harley Race. He said, “Hey Harley Race would have been the king of the UFC, by the way. If he was alive. With no training. Oh, you have no idea. No idea. [shows the picture of Race to Rogan] Yeah, it’s Harley Race. Unbelievable…”
He added, “Listen, he was in a car wreck at 19. Kills his wife. Almost lost his left arm. So he’s been in pro wrestling since he was 13. Okay, look at him. So they put a metal rod this thick from here to here to save his arm… ” After revealing the tragic incident of Race’s life, he started mimicking ‘handsome’, “Joe, my name’s Harley Race. You got a problem with that?”. Talking about the legend, he added, “I mean, I’ve seen him. I mean I had but he l mean bite you. Pull guys’ hair out of his head. He would have been a king at UFC.“
Race pointed a gun at Hulk Hogan

Race and Hulk Hogan are two legends who contributed immensely to the combat sports business in the 1980s and 1990s. Race took the business so seriously that once he ended up pointing a gun at Hogan. In the late 1980s, Vince McMahon and his crew went to Kansas City. This provoked Harley, as it was his territory.
Soon he took a gun and found ‘Hulk’. When Race saw Hogan coming out of the bathroom, he stuck a gun at his belly. However, Hogan soon revealed that it was not his idea but McMahons’. They resolved the issue soon afterward, and no one was injured. The contributions of Hogan and Race to the world of wrestling will always be unmatched.
