Determined to settle the scores for finality, UFC star Israel Adesanya geared for the showdown at 287 against his boogeyman, Alex Pereira. While he began intense training at City Kickboxing in New Zealand, the former UFC champion is not expected to tinker with his fighting style. Despite the Brazilian fighter’s supposed deficiency in grappling, the New Zealander will stick to the style that reaped benefits for him in the past. The middleweight fighter, who gained prominence for his striking skills, will bank on his striking skills instead of employing wrestling skills. The former UFC champion Glover Teixeira voiced the same when he detailed the upcoming grudge match.
Notably, the 43-year-old expressed the difficulty in changing one’s style ahead. However, he believed ‘The Last Stylebender’ might make minor adjustments. In addition, the Brazilian instructor didn’t discard the possibility of a trilogy involving two arch-rivals.

Appearing on the Trocação Franca podcast, the former light heavyweight kingpin said, “I think Adesanya will come a bit different. Try to enhance his speed and the angles that were working on ‘Poatan’.”
“He will work on the things that worked for him and explore that. But changing is complicated,” he added later on.
Following this, the BJJ ace pointed out the Nigerian-Kiwi fighter won a round over ‘Poatan’ due to his ground game. But he was skeptical about whether he would implement the same strategy.
Therefore, the former UFC fighter suggested, “He won’t, he’s not a wrestler. He might try to take him down, but taking ‘Poatan’ down is not easy.”
Teixeira doesn’t expect Adesanya to fight like him
Subsequently, the Teixeira MMA & Fitness gym head honcho mentioned the Auckland native won’t gun in, attempting takedowns. He continued, “He’ll be Adesanya.”
