In the last few weeks, UFC’s lightweight division has regained the spark of action and adventure. After being quiet for some while, the division has its next two title challengers finalized. The first one is Charles Oliveira, who faces champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 294. Oliveira earned his title opportunity by defeating Beneil Dariush at UFC 289.
And the other is Justin Gaethje who too seems well suited now to have his shot at the title as well. Gaethje put up a phenomenal performance as he knocked Dustin Poirier out at UFC 291 to win the BMF title. With these two exceptional athletes ready to fight for the title next, everyone is thrilled! Recently, Makhachev’s manager Ali Abdelaziz appeared in an interview with TMZ Sports, where he talked about the lightweight title contendership in detail.

Talking about Makhachev’s next title defense, his manager had some tough words to share. According to Abdelaziz, Oliveira is making a big mistake fighting the lightweight champ. He believes that ‘Do Bronxs’ will meet the same fate as the last time he faced Makhachev.
“I believe Charles Oliveira will make a big mistake fighting Islam. He was forced to fight him,” he said. Further, Abdelaziz also stated that Makhachev can this time defeat the Brazilian fighter in under 1 round. “He will fight him, he will get thrown over maybe in one round this time,” he said.
With these unfiltered words, it is clear that Abdelaziz does not consider Oliveira a tough challenge for Makhachev. However, he considers the next title challenger in line, Justin Gaethje, as a worthy opponent.

“You’re gonna see one of the biggest fights in the UFC lightweight history between Islam Makhachev and Justin Gaethje at T Mobile Arena early next year,” he said. Further, the popular manager also termed Gaethje one of the scariest fighters ever.
“Justin Gaethje, one of the scariest. Islam Makhachev I believe is the pound-for-pound best fighter today. You’re gonna have to get the scariest guy fighting the best guy. And when you get the two (such) guys to fight each other, you’re gonna see fireworks,” Makhachev’s manager said.
