Colby Covington is an avid admirer of the former US President Donald Trump. Perhaps that’s why his insight on Conor McGregor‘s future as a politician is so very interesting. Covington is preparing to take on Leon Edwards at UFC 296 and while trash-talking his opponent might be his favorite thing to do, his admiration for McGregor too has caught everyone’s attention.
Conor McGregor may not be on good terms with the Irish government. Especially since the Dublin riots took a toll on the nation. The fighter has been an outspoken advocate for the implementation of stringent actions. Something the government doesn’t agree with. Does this mean McGregor plans on running for the office himself?

Where does one draw a line while speaking out against the government? For Conor McGregor, perhaps the line is thin and invisible. The fighter accused the government of making him a “scapegoat” after investigations were allegedly launched against the fighter.
Why? Because McGregor used his X account as boldly as he always does. The government on the other hand accused McGregor of using his voice for attempting to incite tensions. “Ireland, we are at war,” McGregor tweeted on the 22 of November to his large Irish following.
Either way, it looks like after knowing both sides of the coin, Colby Covington has made up his mind. In his mind, ‘The Notorious’ is a fantastic leader. And that would favor McGregor too since he jokingly proclaimed himself the President Ireland on his X account as well.
“I think Conor would be a great leader, I think that he has a lot of those leadership, World Championship qualities,” Covington said in a recent conversation. “He believes in freedom which is most important. So I respect Connor so much because of how much he cares about his people and how much he wants freedom for his people.”
Clearly, freedom is what’s most important for the fighter. Perhaps it comes from his love for Donald Trump, his favorite figure who will be in attendance for his next fight. Or so he promised.

Covington has only lost three times in his UFC career, two times to Kamaru Usman, the former champion who was defeated by Leon Edwards for the welterweight title, and once to Warlley Alves. Now, after Donald Trump promised to be by his side in the audience, will his performance improve?
“I’ve talked to him, he will be at the fight, front row, in attendance. I can’t wait to have him out there and get his dragon energy, every time I see him dude I just wanna go run a marathon, there’s nothing that can stop me, like I feel invincible.” – Covington told interviewer James Lynch in a separate conversation.
