Alexander Volkanovski shares his views about the Ortega fight

Volkanovski claims that the Brian Ortega fight should have been stopped a lot earlier. Moreover, he shared that Herb Dean should have stopped their fight much earlier because he could feel Ortega was done. While the Australian fighter delivered what he has promised, he felt there was a delay in stopping the bout.

He said, “Same with Ortega. I felt like in between rounds, I felt he was done. I felt he showed the ref more than enough to say that he was done.”

And there was a few things that almost feel like he was sort of asking for help without saying it,” he further added.

He said, “So I felt bad at that stage. Cause I’m just like I feel like the ref could have just been like ‘oh that’s it. Uh you know he’s done’. Because even though he is sitting there an you know.”

“Just didn’t look like he, you know it’s not like he didn’t want to be there. But he’s like there’s nothing I can do. So I felt like he looked defeated. So that’s why the ref didn’t give it to him.”

In between rounds, they may communicate with their coaches, but they would never fully admit defeat. Volkanovski could see in Ortega’s eyes that he knew he was defeated, even though Ortega was trying to hide it. Do you agree with Volkanovski?
