John Kavanagh took to his Instagram handle to share the video and captioned it as “An incredible video was captured by one of my students rescuing a girl from a violent mugging. As soon as he came across the situation, he knew that physically, his years of MMA and BJJ training would make the situation manageable. Yet, he had the presence of mind to set up his phone to capture video to protect himself. Sadly, that is how we must all think now before stepping in,” wrote Kavanagh.

He further added, “Even with this video, he has concerns. However, I think his only concern should be where he’s going to pin all his hero medals. After incapacitating the would-be attacker, he consoled the girl and brought her to where she was going. Thank you, @andymurray316, for being a brave hero and showing all that is good about @sbgireland, where we make good men and women dangerous for bad people.”

Murray not only saved the day for the woman but also made sure that the mugger got arrested. What can be a more proud moment for a coach other than the fact that his student saves human life due to his skills? Looking at this a fan wrote, “He saved her life. Congratulations coach. You should be very proud.” Things could have turned out very badly if Murray wouldn’t have intervened in the situation. According to verified sources, 76,501 such incidents were recorded here in the year to the end of June 2024 and this could have been one of them. But John Kavanagh’s student made sure to save the day, and another fan didn’t hold back while expressing the same gratitude- “Incredibly brave, it’s horrible to think how badly that may have gone had he not been there to intervene. MMA & Jiu Jitsu saves lives!”

Now many fans wonder if this might have been staged because Murray stopped to record the incident on camera. However, one must understand that there are cases all across the world where the protectors have been accused of forcing themselves upon the attacker without any reason at all due to a lack of pieces of evidence. Thus, this was a mindful play for, Murray, as one fan rightfully pointed out, “He was smart to record it because Garda probably would charge him for attacking someone for no reason.” Furthermore, another fan doubled down on the same thing, “This is great but unfortunately the way Ireland is right now they will probably try do him for assault.”

Moreover, a social media user praised Andy Murray in a rather unique manner, “In 2024 most men pull out their camera phones for tik tock views in this situation. This dude is the last of a dying breed.” Last but not least, a social media user emphasized that the woman shouldn’t have run away from the incident rather she should have stayed and kicked the assailant, “w0w he did great. the woman totally ran away. i think she shoulda stayed and stomped the mugger in the head while ur buddy held him down.”
