Did Mike Perry just expose Conor McGregor's dwindling fanbase with that savage comeback?

Known for his short temper and controversial persona, former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor appears to be continuing that trend in his role as a part-owner of BKFC. Following BKFC star Mike Perry’s loss to Jake Paul in a cruiserweight boxing match, McGregor took to X to seemingly fire Perry. However, the former UFC fighter wasn’t the one to take things lightly as he gave it back to Conor McGregor following the match and left the fans impressed.

As Jake Paul scored a sixth-round TKO victory over Mike Perry, McGregor took to his official X account to blast the BKFC star. He wrote, “Hey Mike, you’re released and you can go and compete in your smelly dirty boxing championship thing, the smell of it, good luck. You’re fired.” Notably, a few months back Conor McGregor joined Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship as a part-owner and while his stake in the promotion is not confirmed, he does have a good say in things.

However, Perry has nothing to worry about as he reminded McGregor of a fact that the former UFC champion might have forgotten. During the post-fight interview, referencing his own alleged ownership stake in BFFC, challenged McGregor’s decision, saying, “We’re both owners of BKFC so he can’t fire me…”

Perry continued his challenge, saying, “I lost to Jake Paul, why don’t you go fight Jake Paul?… I think it’ll be worse than Conor McGregor vs [Floyd] Mayweather.”  McGregor then responded on X, claiming Perry’s stake in BKFC is minimal, referring to it as “the tiniest minute dot” in the social media video app ‘Triller.’ Though McGregor did come up with a comeback, Mike Perry’s response had a lot of fans floored.

Notably, Perry joined hands with the BKFC in 2021 after his contract with UFC came to an end. The fighter is said to be earning a handsome amount of money via the promotion as he is undefeated in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and over the years, has established himself as the face of the promotion. While it is yet to be seen if his loss against Jake Paul hampers his position in the BKFC, Perry did impress the social media users by giving a “savage” reply to McGregor.

Have an interesting take?

Fans in the comments seem ecstatic after hearing Mike Perry’s remark that threw shade at Conor McGregor’s fight against Floyd Mayweathe Jr. In 2017, Mayweather Jr. defeated McGregor by technical knockout (TKO) in the 10th round in a boxing bout that generated a staggering 4,3 million domestic PPV buys and over $600 million in total revenue. Recalling the encounter, a fan pointed out a flaw in Perry’s criticism commenting, “Conor went 10 rounds with Floyd Mayweather, and this guy barely lasted 5 with Jake Paul.”

Another fan commented, “Bro cooked him!” referencing Perry’s savage takedown while many echoed the same sentiment by adding, “He owned Conor 💀” and “Man cooked Conor with a savage reply!” Meanwhile, a social media user chimed in, referencing both Perry’s loss to Jake Paul and McGregor’s to Mayweather, saying, “So Conor was just and you lose and was off the dust ok.”

Another insightful fan weighed in on Conor McGregor’s stake in BKFC, commenting, “Conor always yapping he owns like 2% of BKFC .. he needs to sit down.” This comment contradicts BKFC president David Feldman’s earlier claim that McGregor wasn’t just brought on for his fame.

A few months back, Feldman had stated while speaking to ‘The MMA Hour’, “I’m going to let him disclose what he wants to disclose about that. I’m going to tell you that he has needle-moving equity. He has substantial equity in the company. He has enough equity to really make a big play here, and I think he’s going to.”

Meanwhile, an avid boxing fan seemed to be siding with Jake Paul as they recalled the former boxer’s brilliant professional boxing stat of 10-1 to declare the winner of the Paul vs McGregor bout, “Jake could probably beat Conor now.” Another social media user also seemed to agree with the prediction as they commented, “Mike Perry basically said, ‘This is harder than you think.'”
