UFC 314 couldn’t be more exciting. The beef between Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell had already kept the fighting community on the edge of their seats. But not everyone expected the Brazilian to break ‘Thug Nasty’ down in his own game and force him to tap out with a ninja choke in the second round of their bout. But the drama didn’t end with the submission win.

‘Lord’ didn’t let his rivalry with ‘Thug Nasty’ slip. During his post-fight interview, the Brazilian reflected back on the time when the entire world stood against Mitchell for his controversial comments. But what hurt him the most was Mitchell refusing to touch gloves at the beginning of the first and second rounds. Silva, weighing in on that, claimed that “He [Mitchell] needs help,” and continued with his iconic barking celebration.

But Silva didn’t stop there. He went on to greet the President of the United States, Donald Trump, as well as the Tesla boss, Elon Musk, who were left awestruck by Silva’s performance. But with the main event between Diego Lopes and Alexander Volkanovski still a few steps away, Silva made his prediction known while talking to Joe Rogan during his post-fight interview. He claimed that Lopes would become the next featherweight champion and defeat ‘The Great’ in the main event for UFC 314. And that’s who he wanted to fight next. Silva believes that his performance against Mitchell should get him a shot against Lopes with the title on the line.

But do you know that Silva had already predicted how the fight would go at UFC 314? With the heat between him and Mitchell, he wanted to lengthen Mitchell’s suffering. But asserted that he wanted to end it all within the first 2 rounds. Let’s take a look at Silva’s previous quotes.

Jean Silva predicted his win over Bryce Mitchell before their clash at UFC 314

During a conversation with the UFC days before UFC 314, the Brazilian said, “I hope he doesn’t give in and succumb in the first round because I would love to have fun with him. I’m not loving some of the stuff he’s saying, obviously, and hopefully, he’s just trying to sell the fight because if he really means what he is saying, he’s messed up in the head.”

Silva claimed that the knockout defeat against Josh Emmett was the reason for Mitchell’s mess. Prior to the bout, the Brazilian predicted that he would finish the bout in the first or the second round. He intended to send ‘Thug Nasty’ into retirement. And standing up to his words further strengthened Silva’s position in the featherweight realm. But what’s next for him?

What’s your perspective on:

Did Jean Silva's win over Bryce Mitchell prove he's the real deal, or just a lucky night?

Have an interesting take?

His prediction did not come true as Volkanovski reclaimed the featherweight title after a five-round slugfest in the main event. Volkanovski has better options than Silva. He already stated that he would give the first title defense against Movsar Evloev. Does that mean Silva gets a contender’s bout against Lopes?
