Michael Jai White believes Wesley Snipes is the man behind MCU’s immense success. The Hollywood star firmly maintains his fellow actor laid the foundation stone of a company whose fan base can touch the billion mark today. He also paid his long-due respect to Snipes, who did a commendable job bringing MCU characters to the forefront.

Notably, Snipes released ‘Blades’ in 1998, a commercial success. Not only did he play the lead role but he also worked on it as a producer. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the project received positive reviews from fans and has since been seen as a cult classic. The film by Marvel Enterprises and Snipes’ Amen Ra Films grew into a franchise as two sequels, ‘Blade II’ (2002) and ‘Blade: Trinity’ (2004) soon followed. While Snipes put the Blades in the limelight, it was White whose portal of ‘Spawn’ in 1997 paved the way.

The 55-year-old actor recently appeared on Cheque Runnerz Podcast and claimed how Snipes’ 1998 starrer played a role in MCU’s surge. The host initially gave credit to White for inspiring Wesley Snipes’ Blade and mistakenly attributed him to bringing MCU to life.

Surprised by the comments, he pointed out, “I don’t understand. Well, Spawn and MCU [are] completely different, right? Those are two different.”

He then suggested the credit lies with Snipes, who worked with Ryan Reynolds on ‘Blade: Trinity’, for his instrumental work. He said, “So, you know, my brother Wesley [Snipes], he made that damn company. Wesley made that damn company. Okay? That’s the house that Blade made. You know, he should get that respect.”

Today, the MCU’s profits have ballooned to $28 billion worldwide, with the superhero franchise diversifying its projects. All this dates back to the initial inertia that Snipes’ ‘Blades’ provided to the Marvel universe. Likewise, White’s ‘Spawn’ also commends appreciation for putting superhero movies in the limelight. Despite his portrayal of multiple roles, a rumor associated with him is also getting traction.

Recently, White has also been the subject of a widespread rumor about how he was offered the role of ‘Ghost’ in ‘Power’.

White finally addresses the rumors of skipping ‘Power’

Earlier in the same conversation, White addressed the rumors that he turned down a lead role in Power because he was busy working on a Tyler Perry movie.

The ‘Black Dynamite’ star stated, “Oh, hell no. I mean, it’s a rumor. I have heard this rumor a number of times, but no.”

He continued, “I think there is some truth to the fact that I was working with a TV show with Tyler when they were casting that. So, I think there is some truth to that”.
