͏While having a conversation with Derek of More Plates More Dates on JRE #2239, Joe Rogan dived into the topic of P4P status, the multi-million dollar podcaster emphasized that Jon Jones might be the greatest of all time. “14 years at the top! 14 years!” Rogan exclaimed, “They’re debating whether or not he’s the P4P best fighter alive right now. Islam Makhachev currently holds that standing.”

Now, Rogan made a bold claim that some of the “experts” who vote for the P4P list had “never rolled [on BJJ mats] a day in their life” and did not know “jacksh-t.” But that did not keep him from giving due credit to Makhachev.

But for now, it is Islam Makhachev, who truly deserves to be at the top of the P4P list. Why? Well, specifically because he has finished more opponents in a shorter time frame than Jon Jones, “[Islam] Makhachev is so f—-ng good that he head-kicked Alexander Volkanovski in the rematch,” said Rogan.

He further added, “He submits everybody. He submitted Dustin Poirier. He is a f—-ng monster. When he gets guys on the ground, he just crushes them. You could argue that he is dealing with a deeper talent pool. So, his weight class, in my opinion, is the most talent-rich weight pool in the sport. The 155-pounds [division] is filled with assassins. 205 lbs is not. 265 lbs is definitely not.”

Islam Makhachev finally confronts Dana White about the P4P debate

At the UFC 311 pre-fight press conference, the UFC CEO Dana White was asked a rather unsettling question by a reporter, what is the question, you may ask? Well, the reporter asked whether he would take Islam Makhachev as the P4P king if he defeats Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311. The UFC CEO was put on a difficult pedestal as Islam Makhachev came forward with a cheeky remark, “Dana, you have to be true, man.“

A moment later after collecting his thoughts, the UFC CEO asserted, “Listen, Islam knows I love him, man. But you know how I feel about that. Jon Jones is undefeated for however many years. Boo all you want. I don’t give a s–t.” He even laughingly bashed the reporter for the question as well. Interestingly, Jon Jones came forward to react to this conversation as well. The heavyweight champion took to his Instagram handle to share the conversation on his story and added a smiling as well as praying emoji.

The P4P debate looks poised to go on and on until Jon Jones retires from the promotion or faces his first career loss. Regardless, who do you think stands above the other in this debate? State your thoughts in the comments below.
