They say sticks and stones may break bones, but in the UFC, it’s Colby Covington‘s razor-sharp tongue that leaves opponents bruised and battered. Known for his unapologetic persona and his mic skills, Covington is probably the next in line for a title shot. While it is not officially confirmed yet, rumors tell us that ‘Chaos’ is going to face welterweight champ Leon Edwards at UFC 295.

The fight has been talked about for a long time but is getting delayed due to unknown reasons. Moreover, Edwards has repeatedly shown reservations about a fight against Covington. The champ believes ‘Chaos’ is not worthy of a title shot. Recently, Covington appeared in an interview with Submission Radio, where did not shy away from ranting about his future opponent.

In a typical fashion befitting his reputation, Covington directed a barrage of verbal blows toward Edwards. Moreover, he did not hold back as he confidently asserted that ‘Rocky’ was no match for him in the octagon.

“He knows who Daddy is, he knows that he has to prepare for ‘Chaos’. He knows he needs a full-year training camp. But the thing is guys, it doesn’t matter what Leon Scott does. This is destiny”, Covington said.

Further, Covington sarcastically mentioned his rival’s training regimen, including wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, and striking, dismissing them as inconsequential against the “Colby train”. The confidence with which he spoke implied that Edwards knew deep down he couldn’t measure up to Covington’s prowess, leading to his alleged delay in scheduling the fight.

“He can train wrestling, he can train Jiu-Jitsu, he can train in his striking, it doesn’t matter. He is not going to stop the Colby train. And deep down, he knows that. That’s why he is delaying this.”, Covington confidently said. Next, Covington’s taunts took a harsher turn as he predicted a bleak future for Edwards.

With a sense of finality, he stated that if Edwards continued to avoid the clash, they would have no choice but to strip him of his title. Moreover, the fighter made it abundantly clear that the division would move forward, with an undisputed welterweight title fight scheduled before the year’s end, regardless of Edwards’ actions.

“If he doesn’t up and fight before the year’s end, he’s gotta get stripped”, Covington confidently stated. “The division has to go on. No matter what, there is going to be a big undisputed welterweight title fight before the year’s end. He is gonna get his *ss beaten and go back to irrelevancy. Because he is irrelevant without a belt”, he said.
