The Diaz brothers have created a legacy in the MMA world. Both the fighters have some serious accolades under their name. On one hand, Nick has won the Strikeforce, WEC, and IFC welterweight belts, while, Nate has won The Ultimate Fighter 5′ and many UFC bonus awards.

The pair have been successful in creating a cult-like following through their non-filtered and thug-like personalities. Their full-rampage mode brutal fights are a good example of this. However, former MMA referee, John McCarthy thinks that the elder brother’s persona is way off from his true self.

McCarthy believes Nick Diaz is misinterpreted

Big John shared, “Nick is as tough as they come, and I love the guy. And I think, you know, he’s such a good guy, and he’s got a persona that people, you know, the perception of what he is and who he truly is, it’s two different things. And he is a good f***ing guy who will spend time with people and give you the shirt off his back if it’s something that he looks at as important.”

John then further explained that Nick is perceived in the wrong light. McCarthy stated, “ He’s not a thug. He’s very intellectual as far as what he cares about. ” Big John also highlighted his helpful and caring attitude towards others.
