Conor McGregor has been in the UFC since 2013. Since his debut, he has become one of the biggest stars in not just the UFC, but all of MMA. He is now approaching the 10th anniversary of fighting in Dana White‘s promotion, as he drew praises from UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier in a recent episode of ESPN’s DC and RC Show’.

‘Notorious’ recently wrapped up filming the 31st season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and has also been busy working on his first Hollywood movie, Road House’. He has started training at Big Bear Lake in California for his UFC comeback fight against Michael Chandler.

Daniel Cormier praises Conor McGregor for elevating his opponents

DC praised the former UFC double champion for being able to garner the attention of the people to make MMA as popular as it is today. He mentions that McGregor has elevated not just himself but two of his opponents as well, who are friends of Cormier. He said, “He [Conor McGregor] has elevated two of my best friends.”

DC added, “Two of the guys that I love, that I appreciate in this sport more than anyone.” He mentioned how Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier became big after clashing with the Irishman inside the octagon. DC said, “He [McGregor] has elevated Khabib [Nurmagomedov] to a megastar, and he has elevated Dustin Poirier to a level of stardom that Dustin never could have imagined getting before. So not only does he [McGregor] help himself, he helps the guys he shares the octagon with, especially the ones that could beat him.”

‘Notorious’ becomes the highest-paid MMA athlete in the world

Conor McGregor is already the biggest name in the sport of MMA. Hence, it is natural to think that he will be earning a lot more money than his peers. Moreover, a report from Sporticorevealed that the former double champion has earned a sum of $615 million over the course of his MMA career.

He is ranked 33rd among the top 100, a list which is topped by NBA Legend Michael Jordan with earning over $3.3 billion. The money McGregor made didn’t just come from his MMA career, but also from his famous fight against Floyd Mayweather and from the sale of his Proper 12 whisky brand.

McGregor is 34 years old and does desire to stop competing in the UFC anytime soon.
