UFC champion Alex Pereira expects to put a lid on his heated rivalry with Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. Their fourth encounter, factoring in their kickboxing history, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, will also bear witness to the Brazilian’s first title defense. On the other end, trailing at 0-3, the New Zealander endeavors to settle the scores with his arch-rival. While both the fighters intend to leave the Octagon with the UFC gold, ‘Poatan’ might hold an advantage because of the eminent services he employed in his training camp.
The middleweight champion notably sought help from legendary Chuck Liddle to sharpen his takedown defense. Coupled with the champion’s mentality and the inputs from the famed fighter, the middleweight champion might have an edge coming into the fight. The 34-year-old fighter who also is coached by former UFC champion Glover Teixeira afforded the opportunity to prepare mentally for the big fight.
Dissecting the training camp of the middleweight kingpin, and donning the new analyst role, Dustin Poirier on ESPN’s pre-show expressed working with Glover Teixeira and Chuck Liddle, had “super important” implications.

Expanding on his co-host’s arguments, the ‘Diamond‘ said, “Working with Glover, working with Chuck. He has two kingpins of the light heavyweight division. Champions who fought the who’s, who you know, fought highest competition.”
“So these guys know what a fight is going through when he’s prepping for these big fights. That’s super important to have people around you like that,” the lightweight fighter added later on.
Markedly, Liddle shared good dynamics with Glover Teixeira, and both also trained together in their days. Therefore, their closeness brought them together once again. The camp especially brought in Liddle to iron out Pereira’s shortcomings with grappling skills.
