Dana White Debunks Makhachev’s Claims
Dana White was quick to ridicule the comments made by Makhachev regarding the promotion of the fight. White claimed that the comments were a result of improper translation and were taken out of context.
He said, “Yeah, that’s not true. First of all, I’ve talked to Islam [Makhachev]. First of all. Who interviewed him? Who translated for him? I mean. The guy speaks Russian.”
“Taken out of context. First of all, he lives in Dagestan. What does he know about what’s going on for the promotion of the fight? He doesn’t know anything,” he further added.
White went on to assert that Makhachev does not have a full understanding of the situation. He believes that the fight will be one of the top 5 PPV buys of all time and has no doubt about its success. He is confident in the excitement and anticipation surrounding the event.
In addition, White stated that the event has already sold out, making it difficult to even obtain a ticket. He also claimed that the fight is trending in Australia and that all the reports of dissatisfaction with the promotion are just “Internet BS.” White is certain that the fight between Makhachev and Volkanovski will be a huge success and a top event in the world of MMA.

It's quite possible that personal events surrounding Dana caused him to miss the ball on this. We know Dana is a good promoter simply by so many past results, but this clearly looks like one he wasn't 110% into. He can't say that obviously, but seems very possible.
