Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan share one of the best camaraderies in the UFC as commentators for the promotion. Rogan has always been an ardent supporter of the former UFC double champ and has on more than one occasion talked about DC in great light. In one such episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the 55-year-old expressed that the former Olympian would have successfully cut down to 185 pounds if not for his lifestyle. While talking about weight cuts with guests Justin Wren and Rafael Lovato jr., Rogan also mentioned DC’s performance as a Heavyweight in the UFC.

A recent photo of UFC Heavyweight Derrick Lewis looking much leaner has also left fans talking about the topic of weight-cutting in the sport. It’s interesting to note that Joe had predicted the exact scenario for Daniel Cormier much earlier in this particular episode.
Joe Rogan feels Daniel Cormier could have made 185 lbs with a stricter diet
In the episode which was aired before the Cormier vs Derrick Lewis fight at UFC 230, Joe Rogan while discussing the fight, talked about DC and how his wrestling acumen would be a problem for Lewis. This eventually led Joe to state that believed DC would have made middleweight with a stricter diet and lifestyle.
“DC is a real light heavyweight who in my opinion could fight in Rafael’s(Rafael Lovato jr) class. I think if DC got his diet in order he could be a 185 fer.” claimed Rogan.
The stand-up comedian and commentator also talked about Cormier’s power as a Heavyweight and how the division best fits him.
“Seeing him knock out stipe with one shot like that was stunning. Like, wow! And he was saying that he was doing that in training. He hits way harder as a heavyweight. I think just the way he likes to live his life and how he likes to eat. He just has more energy as a heavyweight,” were his exact words.
More about Derrick Lewis’ epic transformation
Rogan’s comment on Cormier’s possible cut to 185 pounds was an interesting one considering Derrick Lewis’s recent transformation. In a photo posted by UFC Lightweight Terrance McKinney on Twitter, which eventually got viral, the UFC Heavyweight was seen in a much smaller frame compared to his previous physique. ‘T-Wrecks’ aptly captioned it “Derrick Lewis looks like he’s ready for welterweight”

Maybe what Joe had to say about Cormier’s weight didn’t eventually turn out true. However, Lewis surely looks like he might be ready to compete in a smaller weight class. Although those are only fan speculations and have no substance in them whatsoever.
