Moicano entered the UFC lightweight rankings at #13 after his UFC 281 win. The Brazilian is making the most of his popularity surge following UFC 281. During ‘The MMA Hour’ show with Ariel Helwani, he went after the former champion McGregor.
Renato Moicano called out Conor McGregor
One thing Renato Moicano emphasized during that killer post-fight interview was that “Moicano wants the money!” Conor McGregor is the money fight in the UFC. Despite his recent form and recent injury, the Irishman’s star power still attracts call outs like Moicano’s.

Talking to Ariel Helwani, the 33-year-old said, “F*** [Conor] McGregor, bro. He’s done, bro. Now it’s my time.” He acknowledged McGregor had done a lot for the sport but said he was done. He also gave a fair warning to ‘The Notorious’, “If he wants to get the smoke, he is going to be in trouble, because I will beat his a*s bro.”
Referencing his post-fight interview, he said, “Moicano wants the money, McGregor has the money, so why not do that fight?” While Moicano was still fired up from UFC 281, several fans begged to differ.
Fans react to Renato Moicano’s McGregor call out
While Moicano was still evidently hyped from UFC 281, many fans did not share the same enthusiasm about a fight between him and McGregor. Many fans also felt that the UFC had no reason to make this fight. One fan wrote, “Unfortunately Moicano brings nothing to the table like a Michael Chandler or Jorge Masvidal. That’s 2 good matchups.”
Another said, “Why not do that fight? Because nobody wants to see this, that’s why.”

Another one said, “That’s just silly 😂 no way Conor even looks at this guy.” Similarly, another wrote, “Why give the fight to him when there are some big names for Conor to fight that also make sense ranking ways.”
One fan said, “1 win and thinks he’s a world champion like he gives nothing for Conor to gain.” Some fans also pointed out how McGregor would be a bad fight for the Brazilian. One wrote, “He talking like RDA didnt do what he did to him.” Another said, “Bruh McGregor might not be the same no more but he can still knock you out😂.”
