Alex Pereira gifted fight fans with one of the all-time greatest moments in MMA history when he came from behind and won the UFC middleweight title. The Brazilian justified his moniker, ‘Poatan’, when he landed that vicious left hook to finish Israel Adesanya at UFC 281. While that gave the UFC world a reason to label him as someone who has destructive hands, a recent clip proves that his kicks should be feared as well.

The UFC middleweight champion had a friendly competition with former heavyweight champion Bas Rutten. While Rutten proved that he still had it, Alex Pereira showed off another devastating weapon in his arsenal.

Both Alex Pereira and Bas Rutten were present at Karate Combat 37, which went down on December 17. The current champion joined the former champion in a friendly competition to measure their kicking powers on the PowerKube.
Pereira, being the protean striker that he is, found a sweet spot on the machine and landed a devastating kick. The strike measured up to a whopping 90,987 units and set a new record.
57-year-old Bas Rutten’s kick measured 88,388, about 2,500 behind Pereira. At Rutten’s age, it is impressive to possess such kicking power.
Other personalities like Joe Rogan and Francis Ngannou have also set records on the PowerKube. The UFC commentator’s kick measured all the way up to 152,000. Meanwhile, the UFC heavyweight champion landed a punch that was around 129,161 units.
With Pereira displaying this powerful leg kick, fans under the post debated over who the hardest kickers in the UFC are.

Under the video posted on Facebook, one fan commented, “most brutal leg kicks in UFC belongs to justin gaethje. no one comes close. even he f**ked up khabibs legs in the first round. khabib himself confirmed this.” In response to this, another fan wrote, “yeah but if Alex leg kicked Khabib he’d end up out of the octagon.”

One fan said, “He been working with glover and gsp if he can strengthen his takedown defense and ground game he might hold that belt for a while.”
