Joe Rogan recently brought together his MMA and comedy buddies for a night of UFC 284 fights and conversation. As they watched the Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski bout, the UFC commentator voiced his views, which, as a result, has stirred quite some controversy for him, too. But that was only the start of what turned into an interminable discussion for the group, who talked about everything and anything.
At one point, the conversation turned to former two-time UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz, who the UFC commentator proclaimed as someone you don’t want to mess with. Rogan then regaled his pals with a story of when Dominick Cruz had a run-in with a troll, and he used it as a cautionary tale to illustrate why it’s a ‘terrible idea’ when it comes to ticking Dominick off.

At a point of this Fight Companion episode of JRE, stand-up comedian Bryan Callen kicked off the conversation about Dominick Cruz by sharing a personal encounter he had with him during one of his shows. He revealed that Dominick is always raring to go and how his intense energy is palpable. The comic said, “Dominick Cruz came to my show in San Diego and came backstage. And we’re sure- He’s such a f**king tucker.” He then continued, “He was showing me wrestling sh*t… He’s just showing me the craziest sh*t.”
Bryan Callen then said, “He’s always ready to go… Like, he’s the kind of a guy where you realize, if you like- kind of, even got a little bit in his face, he might just attack you.”
With this, Callen set the tone for a discussion about why Dominick Cruz is someone you don’t want to mess with. And Joe Rogan then took over from there with his story, explaining why it’s a ‘terrible idea’ to cross him.
Joe Rogan recalls the Dominick Cruz incident with a troll
After Bryan Callen sang praises of Dominick Cruz, talking about how he’s always ready to rumble, Joe Rogan chipped in. He asked the lot if they remembered the time a troll dared to challenge Cruz, only to regret it in the end. Rogan said, “Some dude came up to the gym and wanted to challenge him. And they had a war. He(Dominick Cruz) head kicked him… He beat the sh*t out of that dude.”
The 55-year-old also added, “But the dude was good. He didn’t suck. He was a good fighter.”

They then played the video and revisited how it all went down. Rogan then said, “It’s just such a terrible decision to fight that guy. I mean, you’re dealing with some guy, like… You have no idea where those punches are coming from. His footwork is f**king crazy. That’s so hard to deal with.”
