Despite the action-packed battle between Jimmy Crute and Rodolfo Bellato, the bout ended in a majority draw. It was indeed one of the unexpected decisions that UFC 312 witnessed. But the one who wasn’t that shocked was actually Joe Rogan. The beloved UFC color commentator, out of the commentary crew this time, went live on JRE Fight Companion, alongside Matt Serra, Brendan Schaub, and Bryan Callen, to watch the Australian card. And it was Crute who had caught their attention.
Initially, Rogan seemed to believe that Crute was out of the UFC 312 card. He claimed that he read a couple of news pieces and found that Crute was one of the fighters taken out of the event. But when he found out that it was a hoax, he revealed how he truly felt about the light heavyweight contender. Rogan said, “I like that dude. He’s very good. Ground game. What weight’s he fighting at? I think he’s a middleweight. Oh he’s fighting light heavyweight. Was he always/ I think he did? Is this a last-minute replacement fight, Jamey? That’s the guy he had. It’s interesting to see that he decided to do that and he’s an underdog. And I’m not familiar with Bellato.”
Soon, following the first round, Schaub inquired if it was actually a 10-8 round. The JRE host confirmed and said, “Yeah 10-8 round. They need to throw those b— out more often. I mean how much time did he have on top. He kept flowing, he beat him up.” But when Bruce Buffer announced that it was a majority draw, Rogan seemed to have known it all.

Well, the first round was actually a 10-8 round in favor of Crute. But the other 2 rounds went in favor of Bellato. And that’s how the outcome came as a majority draw. While it’s indeed an unexpected outcome, given the way the light heavyweight fighters fought, we can certainly expect both of them to entertain us in the future.
Of course, this wasn’t the first time that the UFC judges disappointed the fighting community. There was a time when the 57-year-old JRE host attacked the judges for their controversial judgment at UFC Abu Dhabi. Let’s take a look at what the UFC color commentator had to say.

Joe Rogan dissed the judges for controversial judgment before UFC 312
During UFC 308 JRE Fight Companion, Rogan claimed that the judging seemed sketchy. It was when Rinat Fakhretdinov won over Carlos Leal. According to the famed podcaster, Leal should have gotten the big win. But the reality was a bit different. Even Leal confirmed that he truly believed that he was the one who won. And Rogan sided with him, claiming that he was robbed of a victory.
Rogan went on, “I don’t know what the rules are… But I think the judges for the most part are the same judges. I think they are like traveling judges. Like the judges they think are the good judges. I think some of them are good judges. But every now and then you get a decision where you’re like whoever the f– thought the fight went that way really shouldn’t be doing this on a professional level.”

The world of mixed martial arts was indeed furious about the seemingly biased judgment. But at UFC 312 in the bout between Crute and Bellato, there could have been a clear victor had the first round not been a 10-8 round. But alas! It was already done and that resulted in a majority draw.
