“He Acts Like He Didn’t See Himself Hit the Ref”: Fans React After “Insane” Clip of a Referee Being Knocked Down Between a Boxing Match Goes Viral

During a kickboxing match, both boxers get strikes from their opponent. However, it is rare for a referee to get knocked out. That’s exactly what happened at Glory Collision 5. Heavyweight kickboxer Antonio Plazibat was fighting against Tariq Osaro at the Glory Collision 5. The two had a ferocious battle between each other in Rotterdam and Hollywood. Both fighters put forth a ferocious fight to win the interim Glory heavyweight title.

At the end of the bout, it was Osaro who emerged victorious against his teammate Plazibat. However, Plazibat was able to go for an unforgettable knockout when the match entered the second round. The strike he aimed at his opponent landed on the referee. When the footage of the knockout got viral, fans began to praise the referee for his strength and great attitude.

Fans react to the referee getting knocked out

When the second round of the boxing match came to an end, the referee, Edward Strijkert, noticed the sound of the bell. Soon after, he reached in between the two boxers, who were going through a back-and-forth exchange of strikes. He decided to separate them and came in between the fighters; that’s when Plazibat threw a heavy blow at the chin of the referee. He soon lost his footing and fell to his knees. When the referee was knocked out, many felt that he faced a severe injury.

Nonetheless, he knew how to handle the injury. He got up from the ground and went to the ringside. When the bout resumed, the ringside doctor examined the referee. Later, it was advised that a new referee would officiate the match from then on. The footage of the knockout on the referee soon found its way to Twitter, and fans couldn’t stop themselves from reacting to it.
