Francis Ngannou is the reigning champion of the heavyweight division. The 36-year-old admitted he is not happy with the way things are being dealt with. The Predator wants to fight Jon Jones next but is on his way to recovery from his knee injury. However, Ngannou also shared he has a huge contract problem to deal with, which is almost 5 years old.

The champion also shared how his relationship with UFC President Dana White deteriorated over the years, primarily due to financial issues.
Francis Ngannou wants to fight Jon Jones, but not before he gets justice
Recently, in a podcast with Joe Pompliano, the Cameroon-French professional MMA fighter shared his experience in negotiating with Dana White and UFC. Ngannou said, “my relationship with Dana was very good at the beginning until I mentioned something about the fighter contract.” He talked about his deteriorating relationship with the president of the UFC.
When asked about his next fight, the heavyweight champion said “Maybe Jon Jones, if we get things sorted out,” and added, “Because this contract situation hasn’t been sorted.” After his knee recovery, The MMA professional is raring to fight UFC legend, Jon Jones. He suffered an injury in his title defense fight against Ciryl Gane. The Predator, for now, is in rest mode.

The Predator got stuck with a five-year-old contract and wanted to fix the situation. “The contract that I had was the contract that I signed five years ago. Usually, almost nobody stays in the contract five years. It’s just to hold you, to have control.” He also shared how the UFC traps MMA fighters, “So every time you sign a contract you’ll find yourself tied down three years, four years.”

The Predator had a sour experience with Dana White
That way, the promotion gets much more money as the fighter’s brand grows over the years. But, they only pay the fighters as per the initial agreement. “After a year and a half, two years, they’ll come to re-negotiate and add double. But they know by the time they come to double, your value is like five times what it is.”
Francis Ngannou revealed that re-negotiating after each fight is also not an option. And shared his experience with UFC Boss Dana White regarding contract negotiation. “I think I said something like ‘Oh we can negotiate after every fight.’ That wasn’t even in public. Just in a room the two of us. But I didn’t know how big the mistake to say you can negotiate.”
