The rise of Sean O’Malley has reshaped the landscape of the UFC’s bantamweight division. After a thrilling showdown at UFC 292, ‘Suga’ emerged as the reigning bantamweight kingpin. His face-off with Aljamain Sterling occurred on August 19th at Boston’s TD Garden. Most MMA fans believed ‘Funk Master’ would clinch the victory, given his three successful title defenses in the past. The victory made him the new bantamweight champion at just 28 years old. Currently, O’Malley’s MMA record stands at 17 victories and just one loss. O’Malley suffered the only loss of his fighting career against Marlon Vera at UFC 252. Sean O’Malley makes an unacceptable claim

Recently, the new bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley, took to his social media handle and wrote, “UFC CHAMP 18-0. 28 years old. Life’s crazy.He claimed that his UFC record was 18-0 and that he was not ready to accept the loss he faced against Vera. O’Malley and Vera locked horns in the UFC octagon on August 15, 2020.

 

Back then, O’Malley was an undefeated fighter, and many expected that he would win the showdown against Vera. However, things took a different turn when ‘Suga’ faced some ankle issues. This severely affected his performance and ended up with him getting knocked out in the opening round.

However, O’Malley seems to be keen on forgetting that incident and has claimed that he is an undefeated UFC champion. When fans came across his claim, most of them were quick to remind him that he actually lost to Vera.

Fans react to the claim of the bantamweight king

When Sean O’Malley mentioned his MMA record as 18-0, a fan tagged Marlon Vera and wrote that O’Malley was calling himself undefeated. The fan was clearly mocking the bantamweight king.

During the bout between O’Malley and Vera, Vera defeated ‘Suga’ by throwing hard punches at him. The bout came to an end when the referee intervened and stopped the fight. Hence, a fan pulled O’Malley’s leg for not accepting the defeat.

Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan locked horns at UFC 280, where ‘Suga’ won the bout via split decision. A fan claimed that he not only lost to Marlon Vera but against Petr Yan as well.

When most of the fans mocked O’Malley for claiming that he was undefeated, some fans came forward to support him. A fan stated that he is waiting for O’Malley to defeat Vera again.

Another fan even went on to say that it was unfair that Vera won.

A fan totally believed that the new bantamweight king was going to rule over the division. He indeed seemed excited to watch the future bouts of O’Malley.
