The world of combat sports is indeed skeptical when it comes to fighters using performance-enhancing drugs. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is no exemption from the scrutiny regarding the use of PEDs. After Felipe Pena defeated Nick Rodriguez at Tezos WNO, via decision, the MMA world began arguing about Nicky Rod being natural or not. However, the man who exposed the Liver King, came to rescue Rodriguez. Derek Cole from ‘More Dates, More Plates’ recently disclosed his thoughts about Rodriguez having a natural body after randomly testing his blood.

Unsurprisingly, the BJJ G.O.A.T., Gordon Ryan, had a difference of opinion. As the video of Cole defending Rodriguez appeared on Instagram, Ryan wasted no time in attacking his rival. He claimed that Rodriguez was ‘off cycle’ and hence appeared to be natural. 

Gordon Ryan doesn’t accept Nicky Rod being clean

Derek Cole recently revealed his thoughts on the ‘natty’ status of Rodriguez. After Ryan accused Rodriguez of being unnatural, Cole decided to randomly test the grappler’s blood. Unfortunately for Ryan, the results came out in favor of Rodriguez.

Cole took to his YouTube channel and said, “What can we say for near certain is that within a reasonable time frame the not use sh*t. I would say that there’s certainly pretty good chance that the guy has been natural, for a while, if not years… It’s pretty night and day when you see guys who have no holds barred access to using gear to compete at a high level. And then what happens to their physique they’re after if they pulled it out entirely? Like there’s a dramatic difference…But I would say that at this time he is natty and he has been for a decent period of time.”

As Cole’s video found its way to Instagram, Ryan went to the comments and declared that his rival might be off the cycle. He apparently wasn’t ready to accept what Cole had to say. Ryan commented, “Was off cycle* the random testing contract is being drawn up though. Hopefully he doesn’t have a heart attack first though.”

Indeed, the man at the peak of BJJ isn’t easy to persuade. However, the BJJ world might soon have to address Ryan‘s words, as well. 

Ryan offered to test Nick Rodriguez

This wasn’t the first time the BJJ legend claimed Rodriguez was ‘off cycle’. Previously, he took to Instagram and offered to fund random tests for his rival. Nicky Rod accepted the offer and demanded $10,000 for every single clean test. Furthermore, he also promised to pay the same amount to Ryan in case he failed the tests.
