While speaking at the press conference, Gordon Ryan shared details about his fight with Nick Rodriguez. He shared some gruesome details of the fight, which resulted in Ryan breaking his leg. To the crowd’s amazement, the fighter did not tap out to the leg lock.
Gordon Ryan explained at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 3 event, “Oh yeah, that was my ankle. I was trying to switch to a Fifty-Fifty Heel Hook, and I wasn’t respecting his [Rodriguez’s] mechanics, because I know he doesn’t do Leg Locks that much.”

Furthermore, the victorious Ryan tried to explain his strategy and the consequent events. He said, “I was trying to figure out how to transition from an Achilles grip to a Heel Hook grip. And while I was doing that, he put on a Toe Hold, and then he just ripped it as hard as he could, and my leg broke.”
