Joe Rogan is a true Renaissance man. Between being the biggest podcaster and the commentator for the biggest MMA organization in the world, Rogan has some serious hobbies and passions, and among them is his car collection. Owning a Toyota Land Cruiser, Ford Raptor, Tesla Model S, Chevrolet Nova, and Porsche 911 among many more, has shone light on the UFC color commentator’s love for automobiles. However, when he had just two cars in his garage, he encountered a stunning realization.

A better-performing car makes a person drive faster. Talking to Mike Rowe on episode #2235 of the Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan claimed, “Well, it completely makes sense if you have a vehicle that’s more able and capable. You’re gonna probably drive it faster, and you’re probably gonna take more risks, because it can do stuff.” And the commentator spoke out of his own experience. He continued, “I used to have a Lexus SUV. This big, boat, Lexus. And you know what I loved about it? I drove slow in it. Because it doesn’t stop that good, it’s not that fast. But it’s just, it’s big and comfortable, and it just chilled me out.”

But automobiles were just like the two faces of a coin. One side was comfortable and relaxing, while the other side had the power to drive recklessly. When the JRE host used to get into his BMW M3, things were completely different. Rogan went on, “And my M3 was a zippy little thing, and I was flying around that thing. Like why do I drive different in this f—ing car than I do in the big car? The big car would just chill me out. I just get in that big old boat, and I just [exhales out loud]. The world was like quiet out there, was nice and relaxed.”

Needless to say, Joe Rogan loves to drive around in his 4-wheeled machines, as seen in his conversation with Mike Rowe. His love for cars even got him to Lando Norris’ McLaren garage at Austin GP back in October. However, he seems to have a mixed opinion about Tesla cars. Talking about his Tesla Model 3, he once said that it was “a great car for the value.“ But the podcaster isn’t a fan of the self-driving mechanism of Teslas.

Joe Rogan shares his opinion of Elon Musk’s self-driving cars

While the modern world gears up to accept the driverless cars from Elon Musk, Rogan has his doubts about them. During a conversation with Ali Siddiq in episode #1998 of the JRE, the UFC commentator revealed why he didn’t trust Tesla. He said, “Yeah, I don’t trust it. I have it, I don’t trust it. Yeah, I have a Tesla. Answer the address you want to go to, press auto navigate. Here, stops at red light. You are supposed to keep your hand at the wheel though. Just in case.”

Nevertheless, there was a time when such a concept impressed Rogan. However, another concern may deeply trouble the JRE host who expressed his skepticism about driverless cards. About half a decade ago on JRE #1104, Rogan reflected on what his car expert friend Boyan Slat had told him. He said, “It’s going to be very difficult to drive your own car, and then it’s going to be illegal.”
