“Gonna Smash That Guy” – Conor McGregor’s MW Move Has Khamzat Chimaev Vowing for Brutal Consequences

Conor McGregor has been claiming that he’d be returning to the UFC in a new weight class. Middleweight, to be exact. His comeback opponent might be Michael Chandler, but other fighters in the middleweight are also eying a matchup with the Irishman. On that note, Khamzat Chimaev recently opened up on the prospect of fighting McGregor in Dana White‘s promotion.

Khamzat Chimaev had a brief stint in the welterweight division. However, after missing weight for his fight against MMA icon Nate Diaz, Dana White decided to move him to the 185-pound division. Now that Conor McGregor has also hinted at a move to the middleweight division, Chimaev has predicted how the fight against him will go.

Khamzat Chimaev claims he would easily defeat Conor McGregor

A video clip of an interview with Khamzat Chimaev surfaced online where he predicted how his fights would end against the fighters the interviewer was naming. When Conor McGregor’s name popped up, ‘Borz’ mentioned the weight difference between the two and how he’d have the advantage. Chimaev said, “Of course, the guy [McGregor] is 66 kilos. I am 84 kilos and I’m much bigger than him.”

Given the difference in weight, Khamzat Chimaev isn’t sure if he’ll ever cross paths with Conor McGregor. However, now that the Irishman is hinting at a middleweight move, there could be a chance that they might come face-to-face inside the Octagon in the future. If that happens, Chimaev is sure that he’ll easily take care of McGregor.

“I don’t think ever will happen, our fight. If it happens, of course, I’m gonna smash that guy,” said a confident ‘Borz’. However, despite wanting to decimate McGregor inside the Octagon, Khamzat Chimaev also praised the Irishman for being one of the biggest stars in the UFC.

Chimaev claimed he and Conor McGregor were among the biggest UFC stars

Khamzat Chimaev was away for a year before making his return to UFC 294. During that time, he once appeared in an interview on ‘The MMA Hour’, where he talked about his rise in the UFC. Furthermore, the Emirati fighter, who was a Swedish citizen at that time, went on to assert that he, Conor McGregor, and Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov are the three biggest stars in Dana White’s promotion.

“I’m famous now, and the most famous guy from the UFC, Izzy [Adesanya] and me and Conor [McGregor] and Khabib [Nurmagomedov],” said Khamzat Chimaev. He further went on to state that fans around the world love watching him, McGregor, and Nurmagomedov fight, which has earned him a lot of fans.

There is no doubt there is a healthy amount of respect between Conor McGregor and Khamzat Chimaev. But, like most fighters, everybody seems to want a fight against ‘The Notorious’. However, it seems unlikely since the official announcement for McGregor’s return is yet to be announced, even though he said that it was June 29. We will have to wait for an exciting showdown to happen!
