Ian Garry is all set to face Michael Page at UFC 303. Back when Conor McGregor was confirmed to make a return to the Octagon and fight Michael Chandler, the world of mixed martial arts underwent nothing but excitement. Needless to say, Garry was also one of many excited fans. Wanting to fight on the same card as McGregor, Garry got himself a fight against MVP. But it wasn’t because he thought that he deserved a fight with ‘Venom’.

You heard it right! Garry simply asked to be pitted against Page because all he wanted was to be on the same card as his idol. However, in a recent interview with the New York Post, Garry revealed that he was indeed upset about McGregor’s injury. But all he spouted out was praise for the ‘Mystic Mac’. he claimed that the entire world was upset with McGregor’s withdrawal from the fight, but the excitement for when he would return still remains. Saddened by his idol’s fight canceled, Garry revealed his thoughts about his next opponent.

Talking to New York Post’s Scott Fontana, the number 7 welterweight disclosed that he has no interest in fighting Page. He pointed out that Page never got the chance to wear a belt at Bellator and dissed him for believing that he could win the belt at UFC. ‘Machado’ said, “I have zero interest in fighting MVP, I had zero interest then, I have zero interest now.

He further added, “I did it to fight on the same card as Conor and people give him hype. People give him, ‘Ah, he’s this, he’s doing that.’ He never won a world title at Bellator and he’s had two opportunities to do it and now he’s coming to the UFC, which is the greatest organization in fighting and he thinks he’s going to come into this division and do what? Win a world title? He couldn’t do it tl Bellator and he thinks he’s gonna do it here?”

Thereafter, the Irishman pointed at their age difference and claimed that he was indeed younger, faster, and more technical than MVP. He seemed to believe that he would outclass Page in every single way.

The conversation soon found its way to social media as @champs.rds released a short clip of the interview on Instagram. Without a doubt, the fight fans were split into factions as they overtook the comments section and revealed their thoughts on the matchup. Let’s see what the fans had to say.

Right after the conversation was released on Instagram, many of the fight fans stood in support of the Irishman. One of the fans pointed out that Garry’s low kicks would truly pose a threat to MVP. Garry’s low kicks are gonna be a problem for MVP imo,” the comment read. Another fan wrote, “he’s not wrong, MVP wasn’t able to became champ in Bellator, but that’s gonna be a hard fight for Ian.”

But the fans weren’t oblivious to the fighters’ tendency not to strike first. “This fight could possible break the record for the least strikes thrown. I imagine them both staying on the outside and trying to score points of single strikes,” wrote a fan.

The fighting community also began to predict the outcome of the fight. Some fans believed that it would be Garry who would win, although the fight would be boring. A comment read, “ian by decision in a boring clinch game fight.” Another comment read, “He’s right, MVP is good but he only beat Kevin Holland. Garry going to beat him by UD.”
