Benji Radach’s first official victory under the UFC banner was against Nick Serra, who was the brother of former welterweight champ Matt Serra, way back in 2002. After squaring off against Serra, ‘Razor’ went into the Octagon against the future lightweight champion, Sean Sherk. The fighter was brutally defeated by Shrek as he was handed the first defeat in his UFC career. Well, during that time, UFC was just a growing phenomenon and was not as big as today. After fighting for various regional leagues, Radach jumped ships to the then-best MMA league International Fight League (IFL) in 2007.
‘Razor’ fought for the initial middleweight championship belt under IFL but he failed to secure it. After fighting under the IFL banner for a good 1 year, Benji Radach again jumped ships to Strikeforce and then finally to Bellator. Benji Radach was just 45 when he took his last breath. The MMA community is shocked by the sudden demise.

Kindness is the virtue of a strong man, a fan highlights the moment when he witnessed Benji Radach’s fight when he was fighting in IFL, and emphasized the kindness of that man. It must be noted that outside of his fight world, Radach was nothing less than a hero as there was once a time when he stopped a robbery back in 2004 when an assailant tried to hold up the restaurant at gunpoint while he was having breakfast with fellow UFC veteran Dennis Hallman. The fighter intervened and immediately neutralized the threat by tackling the robber.
Terrible to hear. I was a fan back in the day, saw one of his IFL fights live and briefly met him. Very kind dude. Rest in peace, Benji.
