Khabib Nurmagomedov has returned from his retirement to make sure Islam Makhachev is ready to take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 302. The former lightweight champion is indeed feared as one of the toughest coaches in the world of mixed martial arts. Now that Makhachev is about to face one of the strongest fighters in the LW division, Nurmagomedov had no option but to come in and train his protege. However, ‘The Eagle’ has brought tough days to the training camp.

Nurmagomedov sure believes in the concept of hard work. After all, the Dagestani fighters are known for their discipline and tough training. But with Nurmagomedov in the Coach’s mantle, things have truly gone to the toughest difficulty level. It was all revealed with Coach Khabib’s relentless comments on Makhachev during a workout.

With Makhachev preparing for the ‘Diamond’, Nurmagomedov was seemingly left with no choice but to fly to the American Kickboxing Academy and take up the Coach’s role. He has brought the intensity and difficulty of the training a couple of notches higher.. In a recent video uploaded on Instagram, Nurmagomedov can be seen making the fighters run multiple laps in a field. He said, “This is why we are here. Here is like we have everything. We have to sleep, train, eat, repeat, every day.” He commended the fighters when they did well. But when Makhachev complained about pain, ‘The Eagle’ had a slick response ready. He said, “Good, Islam. Hey! Go home to your mom and then you won’t feel any pain. Here until death.”

Without a doubt, things were nigh on hellish for the mixed martial artists, with Nurmagomedov as the coach. Previously, the former champion released a couple of instances wherein he showed how hard he made the team train. In one of the videos, even Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of the team wasn’t spared and was made to do push-ups. Nevertheless, with Nurmagomedov’s help, Makhachev might just take down the dangerous Dustin Poirier. But even the champ is not happy with Nurmagomedov’s training regime.

LW champ complains about his mentor’s training

In one of the videos that ‘The Eagle’ uploaded on his YouTube channel, Makhachev gave some insights on the training sessions. Therein he stated that the training camp went well, with every fighter giving their hundred percent. The team was training for more than two weeks, but then Nurmagomedov swooped into the camp and apparently disrupted the camp. He said, “Khabib came to the camp slightly disrupting the start and, without any acclimatization, we immediately began training.”

However, it was nothing but fun for the former undefeated champion. He revealed that he was there just for five days. And those five days would be very hard days for the fighters, while it would be fun for him. Nevertheless, Nurmagomedov has also provided the current champ with essential warnings and tricks to use in his fight against Poirier. Undeniably, his experience in defeating Poirier back in UFC 242 came in handy. But the hardships for Makhachev won’t end anytime soon.
