Many consider Khabib Nurmagomedov as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. He is a former UFC lightweight champion and finished his career undefeated. ‘The Eagle’ dominated some of the biggest stars of MMA in his career and never looked to have any trouble in defeating them.
Logan Paul went one step ahead and called Nurmagomedov, the greatest fighter. In his podcast, Impaulsive, he talked about the time he went to watch the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.
He said, “I went to Kansas City, is where I watched the UFC fight, Khabib vs. Justin Gaethje. Khabib is the best fighter in the planet ever. I’ve been saying it. He is the best fighter to ever grace the planet, pound-for-pound of course. Boxing is still very much a sport, I’ve always said that. It’s a sport of boxing.”

“I’m talking about fighter, dude, fighter, gladiator s**t. He’s the best. Justin Gaethje, the guy he beat in the second round via triangle choke, is also one of the best fighters on the planet. And for Khabib to manhandle like a rag doll. Manhandle one of the best combat sports athletes on the planet like a rag doll is so indicative of the level that this guy is operating at.”

Nurmagomedov decided to retire immediately after the fight against Gaethje and announced it during the post-fight interview.
Khabib Nurmagomedov didn’t want to fight without his father
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, was the biggest inspiration for ‘The Eagle.’ He started wrestling at a very young age, under his tutelage. His father trained and stayed by his side throughout his career, and made him the fighter he was.
However, his father passed away because of complications from COVID-19. It happened before his fight against Justin Gaethje, but he decided to go ahead and compete at UFC 254.
He dominated ‘The Highlight’ and submitted him in the second round via a triangle choke. It was the first time he had competed in a bout without his father by his side and never wanted to do it again. According to a promise given to his mother, he stepped away from active competition.

Logan Paul also touched on this topic during his podcast and said, “It is ridiculous. He ended his career that night 29-0 and announced his retirement, because his father passed away, between his last fight and this fight. And his father was obviously a huge mentor and was with him side by side. He no longer wants to fight with his dad by his side.”
