What transpired in the fight at UFC 289?

Landwehr, who has been a crowd favorite since his UFC debut in 2020, eyed a breakout in the rankings at UFC’s Canada card. On the other hand, Ige pushed his best effort to maintain the momentum that evaded him in previous outings.

Ige, came into the fight on the heels of a KO, burying his 3-loss streak, assumed the aggressor’s role, and pushed forward to land some blows on his opponent. However, both fighters sized each other up and matched blows on the canvas after an initial slow hesitancy. ’50k’ landed some punch combos while Landwehr was happy to sit back and gave his response on the counter.

Whenever the 31-year-old pushed forward with his left hand, Landwehr responded with a beautiful counter and body blows. Ige being a little busier caught Landwehr lacking in the dying seconds of the first round and Landwehr got saved by the bell.

In the second round, the 16-6 record holder remained calm, called calculated shots, and relied on his left jab to finish the job. Landwehr, who kept the audience captivated with his freaky approach previously, cut Ige open between the eyebrows. The 35-year-old pushed on those blows and had his moments.
