Power Slap League founded by Dana White  has presented opportunities to several combatants. Amongst others, Cole Young, a welterweight striker, availed a massive win against Zachary Zane with a narrow  28-29 score. However, this win was a lot more paramount than it appeared. Unfortunately, his infant son is going through an ultra-rare CDG disease and liver failure.

Subsequently, he had to transplant a part of his liver but he did not have the financial means to do so. That being said, with the help of his power slap purses, he could go ahead with the medical procedure as now has financial resources that he did not earlier. Amidst this, White weighs in on this profound turn of events while advocating for his power slap league.

This league was founded by the president of the UFC back in 2022. At the time, it was not particularly welcomed by fans, and to an extent was subject to heavy criticism. Regardless, White defies all such critics and advances that his league has provided a platform for power-slapping athletes to showcase their talent and make substantial money from it.

During the post-fight press conference of Power Slap 6, a reporter brought about the story of Cole Young and in response, White said, “Thank you and that is what we are going for—we believe too that we have this lighting in a bottle. I believe we are the best in putting on live events and creating a buzz and energy and all that sh*t.”

In addition, he asked his colleague to narrate the heartbreaking yet inspirational story of Cole Young. His colleague articulated, “He [Cole Young] needs to give a piece of his liver to save his kid. He pushed off that transplant for this fight to make money. So he can have surgery this week or next week.”

It is safe to say that White takes a lot of pride in his slap league promotion and in providing a platform for fighters like Young to change their lives for the better. That being said, it has not been the first instance the president of the UFC has advocated for the Power Slap League.

Several critics do not deem this league to be safe, however, White would beg to differ. According to him, fighters under his league are getting better medical treatment than they did otherwise. Not to mention, he reiterates the fact that the strikers are making more money after completing under his banner and it is only benefitting their interest.
