In a recent interview with MMAJunkie in Spanish, Burns talked about the possibility of Masvidal returning. According to Burns, Masvidal will not be returning to capture the UFC Welterweight title.

However, ‘Durinho’ feels that fans can see Masvidal back in the octagon for a “money fight” against a big name like Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. “Right now he’s retired, and as a title contender he’s retired. But for big money fights against (Conor) McGregor or Nate Diaz or another big name, I think he returns”, Burns said.

It is worth noting that Masvidal faced Nate Diaz at UFC 244 for the customary BMF title. The PPV turned out to be a huge success for UFC. Although McGregor vs Masvidal never materialised, there were rumors about this fight after McGregor‘s win against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. The thought of Masvidal facing Diaz or McGregor is enough to excite MMA fans all across the world.

In the same interview, Burns also praised Masvidal’s in-ring abilities.He noted that Masvidal was a very dangerous opponent, and always fighting, even when grappling. Burns also talked about Masvidal being very intelligent and always knowing how to respond in the octagon. According to Burns, it was not easy going for a KO against ‘Gamebred’ as Masvidal did not let Burns relax for a single moment.

“He was very dangerous in there. He kept fighting the entire time, he’s very dangerous. Even when I was grappling him, he had all the answers. He knows how to respond, where to put his hands, what to do when he gets brought back to the canvas. He’s very intelligent. There was never a moment I felt I could relax.”
