Belal Muhammad seems to be next in line to fight for the UFC welterweight title. ‘Remember the Name,’ on a 10-fight win streak, including his short-notice victory over the ever-dangerous Gilbert Burns last year has almost made it impossible for Dana White and the UFC to deny him a welterweight title shot.

However, Muhammad is not a fan favorite, which may explain the UFC’s reluctance. One of the people who did not think Muhammad deserved to fight for the title next was Gilbert Burns himself, who did not give much credit to the fellow welterweight pointing out that he was injured going into their bout. However, ‘Durinho’ seems to have changed his mind.

Gilbert Burns, asked about his Belal Muhammad comments, said in a recent interview that he had been irked at Muhammad bragging about his victory over him and felt he should not have said he did not deserve a title shot and apologized to the #2 ranked welterweight.

“I think Belal Muhammad deserves to fight for the title. I shouldn’t have said it the way I did, I apologize. Even though I don’t like the guy very much… because I lost to the guy, I was injured and [Belal] was like ‘I beat Gilbert Burns in this way, short notice’,” he said.

Just last week, Burns had said that he didn’t think Belal Muhammad deserves to fight for the title and that he was “not intrigued” at the prospect of watching Edwards take on Muhammad for the welterweight crown. However, Muhammad is hard at work to prepare for an exciting stylistic matchup with Leon Edwards, where his world-class grappling will go up against ‘Rocky’s elite striking skills.

Muhammad going to Dagestan to train for Edwards

Belal Muhammad has said that after his win against Gilbert Burns last year, Dana White had promised that he would be fighting for the title in his next fight. And while there were initial speculations that he may face welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC 300, this did not materialize, perhaps due to the Palestinian’s low stock among the fans.

However, Muhammad is sure that he will be next in line for the title shot. And the Palestinian is determined to give it his all in a potential title bout and plans to train for it in Dagestan owing to the tough and relentless training methods of Dagestani fighters. What are your thoughts on Muhammad going to Dagestan to train?
