While Burns proved his mettle, he called out Colby Covington in the post-fight media interaction. Burns was also asked about his views on the Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards 2 fight slated for UFC 286 in March. In reply to the question, Burns had a clear verdict on the exciting trilogy that’s coming up. Burns looked divided in what he wanted to happen and what he thought was more logically possible.

Burns had a very concise opinion about the Edwards vs Usman fight. He earlier had some Twitter banter with Edwards and the journalists reminded him of the exchange on social media. Burns was asked if he thought Leon Edwards could be a long-time champion.

In the UFC 283 post-fight interaction, a journalist asked Gilbert Burns about Leon Edwards and Usman. The journalist asked, “a lot has been said about Leon Edwards the champion in the past. You even argued with him on Twitter and everything but how do you see a fight with the champion playing out? Do you think he’s gonna be a long-lasting champion like Usman?”

Burns had a clear answer to the question, as he said, “he’s a tough guy. I think that Leon may win at home. I like his coaches in the fourth to fifth round waking the guy up. I think they did a great job it’s guys that really know him and study the game plans but it’s going to be a tough fight. But I think Leon Edwards win. I want Kamaru to win but I think Leon Edwards is going to win. Let’s see how it plays out.”
