Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman looked unbeatable a few years ago. Then, like many mixed martial artists who look unbeatable, he lost in a shocking defeat to Leon Edwards in their second encounter at UFC 278 in 2022.
And though most, including the Nigerian, dismissed it as a fluke, Edwards beat Usman even more convincingly, silencing the fluke narrative once and for all. And although he is not the champion anymore, he is still enjoying the high life.

In a post on his official Instagram account, Kamaru Usman posted a series of stories showing his luxurious lifestyle on a trip to Italy. He flaunted his Rolexes, a fancy dinner by the luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet, a custom jersey with his name given to him by the Italian football club Inter Milan, followed by the Italian luxury fashion house Stone Island.
The Nigerian’s critics will point out that this luxurious lifestyle is why he lost the championship. “It’s tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5 am when you’ve been sleeping in silk pajamas,” as Marvin Hagler put it. Although he is in Europe on a trip, Usman will probably return to support his brother, the heavyweight Mohammed Usman’s fight against Jake Collier at UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs. Gamrot four days from now on the 24th of September.

Who is Kamaru Usman’s brother Mohammed Usman?
Unlike his brother who fights at welterweight, Mohammed Usman is a heavyweight. He was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 30, making the duo the first set of brothers to win the show in its history. Nicknamed ‘The Motor’, Mohammed, 34 is just two years younger than the 36-year-old former welterweight champion. At 6’2″, Mohammed is also two inches taller than his brother.

Mohammed trains at the Fortis MMA gym in Dallas, Texas, unlike Kamaru who trains at ONX Sports gym in Salt Lake City. While Mohammed is mostly unknown in the UFC currently, he has shown that he has skill and ability by winning The Ultimate Fighter. And in a sparse heavyweight division, if he can win his next few fights emphatically, combined with his name recognition, he might find himself fighting for the title soon.
