UFC 314 kept the crowd on edge all night, but the atmosphere exploded when Donald Trump walked into the Kaseya Center. Dana White, as always, stood right by his side as they made their way through the entrance. The moment Trump showed up, all eyes locked on him. His presence shifted the spotlight instantly. The crowd responded with loud cheers and chants, clearly feeding off the energy. But not everyone watching felt the same. One former UFC fighter didn’t hold back. He called out the broadcast for focusing too much on Trump instead of the action inside the Octagon.
Once, Dana White slammed boxing broadcasts during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. He said, “You won’t have one fight and then a podcast happens. And then another fight happens 45 minutes later and you see four fights in six hours.” His point? Boxing spends too much time cutting to guests and talking heads instead of showing the action. Now, Darren Till thinks the UFC is starting to fall into the same trap. He took a jibe at Dana White, reminding fans of those very comments implying the promotion might be drifting toward the same kind of filler-heavy broadcasting the head honcho once criticized.
Till posted on X, “Apart from a few obvious rising stars the UFC as much as I love it is lacking Constantly having to bring out Trump and all the theatrics Seems a little like what boxing used to do what Dana said he didn’t like Something needs to come in to excite us again”

The POTUS is a full-on combat sports fan, and ever since returning to the spotlight, he’s been showing up at UFC events more often. He’s become a favorite among some of the promotion’s top fighters too. Who could forget Jon Jones doing Trump’s signature step after beating Stipe Miocic at UFC 309? At UFC 314, Dominick Reyes joined in on the fun, hitting the “golf emote” after knocking out Nikita Krylov. So, while Darren Till might be disappointed with how the broadcast played out, there’s no doubt Trump’s appearances have turned these events into must-watch TV.
Donald Trump ignored shaking hands with TV star Cheryl Hines
Trump showing up at UFC 314 was one of those moments where the crowd went crazy. He didn’t just stroll in and sit down, he took his time. Waved to the fans, shook a bunch of hands, and played it up like only he could. Somewhere along the way, he bumped into Robert F Kennedy Jr. They shook hands, laughed a bit, and looked friendly. But things got slightly awkward right after that. Cheryl Hines, RFK’s wife seemed ready to greet him too. Trump nodded but didn’t go for the handshake.

Is UFC relying too much on Trump theatrics, or is it just what the sport needs?

A few seconds later, he reached the commentary desk. Joe Rogan, Jon Anik, and Daniel Cormier stood up, grinned, and shook his hand. After that, Trump took his seat alongside Elon Musk and a few well-known Republican Party figures like Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard. They all watched as the UFC athletes put on a show inside the Octagon.
