When Khamzat Chimaev missed his weight by 7.5 pounds before his bout against Nate Diaz, it caused an uproar among his fellow UFC fighters for being unprofessional. His rivals in the welterweight division still blame Chimaev for ruining the business of the UFC. One among them is the UFC welterweight, Colby Covington. ‘Borz’ and Diaz were expected to headline UFC 279 at T-Mobile Arena. At the weigh-in, Borz weighed 178.5 pounds and Diaz weighed 171 pounds. This resulted in Chimaev being replaced by Tony Ferguson for the main event.
Soon after the bout, talks of Borz moving up to the middleweight division started. Now, the next welterweight title challenger, Covington, claims that he is the reason why Khamzat Chimaev is moving up. Moreover, he also blurts out the inside details of the whole matter. According to Covington, UFC president Dana White is also the reason behind Chimaev moving up, as he ruined the UFC’s business by jeopardizing the main event of the promotion.

The fighter was talking to ‘Submission Radio’ when he was asked about his thoughts on Chimaev moving up. ‘Chaos’ lost his temper just hearing the name of his rival. He stated, “That dog face looking m**f***ker… He’s afraid of me. I am the reason he ran away from this division. He knew I would melt him, he knew what would happen if you got locked in there with raw American steel and twisted s* appeal. He had nothing for me and he know that, he knows that deep down inside.”
Talking further on the topic, Covington said, “All the guys he beat on the regional circuit now. So how is this guy so hyped up like he’s so great?

Angry Covington added, “He’s nothing. He’s a f**king bum and there’s a reason he don’t want to fight me and he don’t have no fight lined up. Because he’s a nobody and he f*cking is unprofessional and he, you know, he ruined the UFC’s business, man what are you doing missing with my nine pounds.” ‘Chaos’ clearly had a number of reasons to blame Chimaev for. Moreover, the two have been engaged in a verbal war for a while.

The fighter further spoke about how the incident was harmful to the UFC’s business. He didn’t like that Chimaev took the failed weight-cut lightly.
It was not just ‘Chaos’
It was not just Covington who felt that Borz was unprofessional; the former UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal too called Chimaev unprofessional. The BMF champion also lashed out at Borz for calling out great fighters, as Masvidal thinks that he has no right to do so after missing weight. Furthermore, he mentioned Chimaev didn’t give seriousness to the fight. Similar to Covington, Masvidal too stated that it was his unprofessionalism that resulted in him not having any fights lined up.
