Dana White finally decided to announce the major fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler in UFC 303. McGregor and Chandler are returning after their respective breaks, and this fight is expected to attract many fans and audiences. Veterans like Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen have already started speaking about it, speculating what could happen in the fight. 

Daniel Cormier has given his verdict on several issues related to the fight such as talking about Charles Oliveira and how he would be a good replacement or a backup for this fight. This time he spoke with Chael Sonnen about his verdict on Michael Chandler’s return and how he has completely transformed himself.

Daniel Cormier’s Comments on Chandler’s Return

Chandler has a record of 23-8-0  and lost to Poirier just like McGregor did in his last fight. The former UFC 2 division champion is already training hard for his match against Michael Chandler. Meanwhile, another UFC 2 division champion legend DC revealed his own opinion about Michael Chandler’s comeback who was a former wrestling champion and then became a UFC fighter. He compared Chandler to ‘Stone Cold’ who is a retired professional wrestler and said, “Michael Chandler does that call out. Michael Chandler has done a good job of re-creating himself. It’s like a rebrand, right in WWE where a guy is who he is for a long time and then he goes away for a while. He comes back and now he’s different. He was like Stone Cold Steve Austin the Ring Master.”

UFC 303 which might have a $20 million PPV according to Dana White, is going to see a new form of Michael Chandler according to Cormier. He also mentioned that Chandler might not be using his wrestling techniques because he did use them against Dustin Poirier and was exhausted. This made Poirier get the upper hand on him and defeat him.

Michael Chandler had taken an 18-month break to secure a fight with the Irishman. However, he also spoke for McGregor and announced that the ‘Notorious’ might be retiring after this fight. His verdict got a reply from McGregor’s team.

Conor McGregor’s team answers to the retirement rumors

After the official announcement of the fight both McGregor and Chandler have been speaking to the media and hyping it up. However, after being provoked by McGregor for over one year for this fight the Bellator Champion made his intentions clear about the fight.

Chandler supposedly promised that he would break ‘Mystic Mac’s’ spirit and his job while also talking on his behalf about his retirement. He also gave an interview with MMA Mania where he expressed the same and told Ariel Helwani that McGregor might hang up his gloves if he lost UFC 303.

However, in an interview with Severe MMA, Conor McGregor’s coach disregarded the explanation from the channel. He said, “I don’t think Conor will ever hang it up, so. But we [take it] one fight at a time. We have a really big fight coming up—a big challenge. Chandler is a hell of a competitor, and I’m looking forward to that challenge. We’re all looking forward to that challenge.”
