Khabib Nurmagomedov retired undefeated from the UFC. His legacy is being taken forward by his Protégé Islam Makhachev. While we know the Dagestani for his discipline and humility, UFC commentator Daniel Cormier had some interesting takes on Nurmagomedov being humble. In a recent episode of his YouTube show ‘Three Rounds with Daniel Cormier’, DC discussed ‘The Eagle’ and if he was humble or not.

DC was reacting to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s comments about Islam Makhachev, where he claimed his student can defend his title 3-5 times. DC felt Nurmagomedov was actually not so humble, and it was only natural for a champion of his stature to be a little “not so humble“.

Cormier places Khabib with Michael Jordan

Daniel Cormier was not convinced that Nurmagomedov is as humble as he was. He said, “because I asked you this question, as a guy that was a former Champion how in the world can you stay humble when you got to walk around the world as the f**** man? You gotta be the man, right?”

DC further explained how greats across sports had a certain air about them because they were so good. He felt Nurmagomedov too had “that edge” in him.

DC said, “So being humble and being the man doesn’t always work. You think Michael Jordan was always humble? Chris White, do you think Kobe Bryant was always humble?”

Cormier‘s Co-host, however, suggested that Nurmagomedov was “The king of Humble“. Chris Whiteman said that although he had confidence in his student Islam Makhachev, he was still keeping him humble.

Is Khabib Nurmagomedov really “The King of humble”?

While no questions can be raised about Nurmagomedov‘s work ethic and his ability, it’s not the same case with his humility. Fans would remember his brawl with Conor McGregor‘s teammates after his victory over the Irish. After choking McGregor till he tapped in the 4th round, ‘The Eagle’ jumped the cage and got into a brawl with Irish fans and Team Mac. The brawl remains a stain on his otherwise glorious victory for the belt.
Nurmagomedov fans find his discipline inspiring. Daniel Cormier sees the edge in “Champion” Nurmagomedov. Can you see the edge, or do you feel Khabib is ‘not so humble’?
