McGregor's cryptic tweet—Is this the end of an era or just another publicity stunt?

Conor McGregor is the undisputed king of trash-talking, but his talent for being passive-aggressive might just be his true superpower. Amid ongoing disagreements with UFC President Dana White about his much-anticipated return to the Octagon—a comeback McGregor seems increasingly desperate for—the former two-division champion has dropped yet another of his famously cryptic tweets.

Without any warning or context, the Irishman took to Twitter and posted the vague message, “When I get free”. True to form, McGregor offered no further explanation or details, leaving fans and pundits alike scrambling to decipher his words.

Speculation is running wild, with many believing this could be a subtle jab at the UFC and Dana White, under whose contract McGregor still remains. With two fights left on his current deal, some interpret the tweet as McGregor hinting that he feels confined and restricted by his obligations. Especially because Dana White has shot down McGregor’s idea of a 2024 fight date against Michael Chandler, who has been waiting to fight ‘Mac’ for over a year.
