The rivalry between former heavyweight fighters Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir is one of the most vicious rivalries in the history of UFC.
Interestingly, the fighters have clashed twice inside the UFC octagon. And even though Mir defeated ‘The Beast’ in their first clash, he took a lot of pressure before the fight.
‘The Beast’ was a WWE star when he made his UFC debut against Mir in 2008. Whereas, the latter was already in the UFC for over five years. Hence, many believed Mir could defeat Lesnar with ease. However, it was not the case for the former champion.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet of CVV clips, Mir said, “No contrary. So I looked at him. Oh, I am fighting a guy who is a national champion wrestler. So he is up there with a pedigree that’s extremely high. I mean, I looked at Brock Lesnar as a very legitimate threat because of his wrestling background.”
“And then I was backstage, getting ready for the fight. One of the other fighters on the card told me that- “hey man, you gotta do this. It’s MMA vs Pro wrestling”.
“Oh! you think he is a pro wrestler?” he added.

“Like the dude is a national champion wrestler. So then that actually put a lot of pressure on me. Because I am sitting on people are gonna think he is just a pro wrestler,” Mir concluded.
At UFC 81, in his debut bout, Lesnar dominated Mir from the first bell. He took him to the mat and was trying to finish the fight with a vicious ground-and-pound. However, Mir took advantage of Lesnar’s one mistake and finished the fight with a kneebar.
