Francis Ngannou has a special message for Jon Jones on winning his UFC 309 clash against Stipe Miocic. The heavyweight champion dominated Miocic for almost the entirety of the fight before dropping him with a spinning back kick in the third round. Ngannou took to X to not only congratulate ‘Bones’, but also hinted at a possible clash with him.
“Jones looked great out there tonight.
Congrats Jonny boy👏🏾
I see you 😉,” he wrote.
Of course, Jones-Ngannou was one of the most awaited clashes back when ‘The Predator’ was the UFC’s heavyweight champion. However, Jones spent three years bulking up to move from light heavyweight to heavyweight, and Ngannou exited the promotion by the time Jones was ready to fight.

And now, it is extremely unlikely this fight will ever happen. After all, Ngannou is signed to the PFL, while Jones signed an eight-fight contract extension with the UFC last year. While Jones, too, has expressed interest in fighting ‘The Predator’, the only was this happens is if the UFC and the PFL agree to co-promote an event featuring a clash between the two heavyweight titans. However, the UFC is in mood to do so. After all, it will help the PFL and boost its profile, which Dana White and co. will be loathe to do. Especially after the acrimonious manner in which Ngannou left the promotion last year. But there is another MMA mega-star whom Jones may well fight next.
Jon Jones will retire unless he gets to fight Alex Pereira next
Jon Jones has confirmed that he is not retiring. If that is, he gets to fight light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira next. Speaking to reporters at the UFC 309 post-fight press conference, ‘Bones’ clarified that if he doesn’t get to fight ‘Poatan’ next, he would be more than happy to retire. UFC CEO Dana White has said that while he doesn’t want to make that fight, he may be convinced otherwise if both Jones and Pereira insist.

Of course, there is also interim champion Tom Aspinall waiting in the wings, whom fans want to see Jones next. However, ‘Bones’ has repeatedly said that that is completely out of the question. While the GOAT contender has given a bevy of reasons for not wanting to fight Aspinall, including the Englishman’s purportedly underwhelming resume, and his big mouth, fans suspect the real reason is different.
Fans feel that Jones is ducking Aspinall because he is afraid he might lose to the English phenom. After all, the interim champ is young, hungry, and a generational talent with a remarkably well-rounded game. Not to mention he is a natural heavyweight, unlike Jones, and thus has the size advantage on ‘Bones’. Since he is more than capable of defeating Jones, at least on paper, fans think the New Mexico resident just doesn’t want to risk his essentially undefeated record by fighting Aspinall. What do you think about Francis Ngannou’s message for Jones after his victory?
