Is Dana White downplaying Ngannou's worth, or is 'The Predator' exaggerating his financial success?

Things aren’t getting any better between Francis Ngannou and Dana White after the former UFC heavyweight champion departed from the promotion. The CEO made a bold claim that ‘The Predator’ would have made more money staying in the UFC than moving to another promotion even if the Cameroonian-French decided to step into the boxing ring. Well, ‘The Predator’ has debunked that myth and claimed that the UFC money wasn’t even close to what White claimed.

Claiming that he’s willing to share the details of his boxing and PFL contracts, Francis Ngannou told Ariel Helwani, “If this continues, if you [Dana White] want, I can bring all the numbers. I have all the numbers. I have the receipts.” ‘The Predator’ further added that he doesn’t like to talk about how much he made and the financial side of things, but he isn’t afraid to put it out there if Dana White doesn’t stop downplaying him.

“No [on bringing up the numbers]… I don’t like to bring numbers up. [But] if I need to, I will,” Francis Ngannou added. He has never been the one to shy away from a confrontation with Dana White’s claims, and this time too, he’s not going to back down from his former employer.

If we take a look at what Dana White had to say about handing a new contract to Francis Ngannou before his UFC departure, the UFC head honcho claimed that it would have made him the “highest-paid heavyweight in the history of the company.” Well, ‘The Predator’ debunked that myth as well.

Dana White didn’t offer any money “close” to what Francis Ngannou is making now

Yes, Francis Ngannou was pretty clear when he claimed that the money he’s making in the PFL and boxing is way more than what was laid down on his UFC contract. But that wasn’t all because the avenue to work in other endeavors was also a big deal for the Cameroonian-French star, which was available to him until he left the UFC. “For reference, it wasn’t right. It wasn’t true. They weren’t offering me any money that was close to what I have [now]. Basically, the freedom,” Ngannou further stated.

“The freedom to do what I want was never an option. So this is nothing comparable [to what he’s doing now],” Ngannou added. While the conflict between him and Dana White might not end soon, leaving the UFC and the limitations that the promotion had turned out to be a pretty good decision for the former UFC champion, and his post-UFC fights are a testament to the capabilities of ‘The Predator’.
