Will Trump or Harris win over Joe Rogan's audience, or will it backfire spectacularly?

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris may sit down with popular podcaster Joe Rogan for an interview in the final stretch of the U.S. presidential campaign, as revealed by several sources. They claimed that Harris’ campaign officials met with Rogan’s team this week. However, her appearance has yet to be confirmed. But it seems like she isn’t the only one planning to mark her attendance on the show.

The former President of the United States, Donald Trump, too, is geared up to appear on the acclaimed podcast. In a recent appearance on the ‘Full Send Podcast’ with The NELK Boys, Trump confirmed that he would be a guest on the show. However, he also revealed that Rogan has yet to confirm the plans from his end. But would this be a good move for the Republican candidate? Well, it seems like Trump has received the thumb of approval from his Republican strategist.

On FOX’s ‘The Big Weekend Show‘, journalist, political commentator, and Republican strategist Lisa Boothe stated that Trump should definitely be a part of the podcast. Rogan, who runs America’s most popular podcast, has a highly coveted and devoted following that leans toward young people, men, and numbers in the tens of millions.

So this surely would be an opportunity for Trump to use the new media to earn more supporters. Boothe said, “First and foremost, Donald Trump should 100% go to Joe Rogan. 14.5 million followers who follow his podcast on Spotify. I think the Trump campaign has been smart about utilizing alternative means for media with broadcasters, as well as interviews on X, because it allows Americans to see Donald Trump for who he is.”

It is worth noting that Trump and Rogan have clashed in the past. As recently as August, Trump took a shot at Rogan on the social media platform Truth Social, but later called him a “good guy.” In 2022, Rogan said he was not a Trump supporter, and in August, he said he preferred Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for president. Kennedy has since dropped out of the presidential race and has supported Trump. So it would be interesting to see what happens when the two meet again.

The interview will offer Harris a chance to make her case to her supporters as she works to shore up her support among male voters and men of African American descent in particular. Numerous public polls suggest that Republican candidate Donald Trump could fare better among young men of all races. The appearance could be a morale boost for Harris and Trump, as polls show an incredibly tight race between the two candidates that is expected to come down to results in seven swing states.

In March, Spotify said “The Joe Rogan Experience” had 14.5 million followers, nearly triple the platform’s second-most popular show. Rogan also has more than 19 million followers on Instagram and 17 million on YouTube. And he also struck a new deal with Spotify earlier this year, estimated to be worth $250 million- a testament to his popularity. A statistic that the candidates would love to capitalize on!

A YouGov poll last year found that 81% of its listeners are male and 56% are under 35, fueling the perception that it has a direct line to a cohort that polls show tends to support Trump over Harris. So what do you think? Will Harris be able to one-up Trump and earn the support of JRE fans? Let us know in the comments.
